5 Ways to Be Happy.

5 Ways to Be Happy Day by Day – Simple steps to a more purposeful life!

In the fast pace of daily life, it’s easy to lose your “happy”, in the endless to-do lists, responsibilities, and expectations. You might feel like you’re just going through the motions—functional, productive, getting things done—but not quite feeling like you? That sense of clarity, energy, and ease can start to fade, and suddenly, you’re wondering: What actually makes me feel good?

If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone. Want to be happy, here are five ways to start feeling more like yourself again:

1. Get Honest with Yourself!

Before you can make any changes, it’s important to check in. When was the last time I felt happy? What’s missing? What feels out of sync? Sometimes, it’s not about a complete life overhaul but about noticing and appreciating what’s already there.

  • What does a fulfilling day look like for you?
  • Are there small moments you could be more present for?
  • What would make you feel more aligned?

Clarity is key. Write it down, create a vision board, or simply take a moment each day to reflect. Once you define what feeling like “the best version of you” means, it’s easier to take steps in that direction.

2. Move in a Way That Makes You Feel Happy

Forget the pressure of intense workouts and strict routines. Movement should be just as enjoyable, as productive —something that brings you energy rather than drains it. Think of it as play as much as exercise.

  • When was the last time you moved just for the joy of it?
  • What activity or exercise makes you happy?
  • Could you swap a structured workout for something spontaneous—dancing, stretching, hiking, or even just a new walk, or one you’ve not done for a while?

Moving your body in a way that feels enjoyable can shift your mindset, boost creativity, and help you become more purposeful and successful!

3. Go Outside

Nature has a way of resetting us. Fresh air, natural light, and a change of scenery can do wonders for your energy and mindset. Whether it’s a walk in the park, sitting in the garden with your morning coffee, or heading somewhere completely new, getting outside helps create space for clearer thinking and deeper reflection.

4. Fuel Yourself Properly

Your body thrives on good nutritious food – it literally builds our cells differently as they regenerate, depending on what you’ve eaten. In a world full of quick fixes and conflicting advice, keeping it simple is often the best approach:

  • Eat more real, unprocessed food – grab a pre-cooked rotisserie chicken, if you don’t have much time.
  • Cook when you can—it doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact the traditional meat and two veg is more likely to help you hit your macros!
  • Staying hydrated (you’re probably not drinking enough water!) can actually be more beneficial to your clarity and ideas, than that fourth coffee!

Instead of restriction, focus on what makes you feel good. Small, consistent choices can have a big impact on your energy, mood, and overall wellbeing.

And just a reminder of what we all know, that “sharing meals with others is strongly linked with wellbeing” so plan a meal out with mates or your partner, on authority of The World Happiness Report, published by the Wellbeing Research Centre at the University of Oxford.

5. Prioritise Rest

How well are you actually resting? It’s not just about sleep—but real, quality rest as well?

  • Could your sleep routine be improved?
  • Would a digital detox, even a few hours, help you switch off more effectively?
  • Are you setting boundaries (with work, kids and devices) that allow you to truly unwind?

It’s easy to push rest to the bottom of the priority list, but recovery is as essential for everything, so you can function properly. Whether it’s adjusting your morning routine, learning to say “no“, or simply giving yourself permission to slow down without guilt, small changes can make a big difference.

The Key to Feeling “All Over It”

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach—what works for someone else may not be right for you, and that’s important. The biggest thing is to start paying attention to what you need.

Progress doesn’t happen overnight (unfortunately), but small, intentional steps will bring you closer to a place of clarity, ease, and that ever-evasive balance.
