What's On Our Corporate Social Responsibility Page

CSR - Corporate Social Responsibility

At InTah, we are deeply committed to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and strive to make a positive impact on society and the environment.

As part of our CSR initiatives, we have taken significant steps to reduce our carbon footprint and embrace ethical and sustainable practices in our day-to-day work.

Our CSR Practices:

InTah Events and Expeditions:

At InTah, our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility extends to every event and expedition we run.

Sustainability is built into our planning from the ground up—ensuring minimal environmental impact while maximising positive contributions.

We prioritise paperless operations where possible, carefully manage energy use, and choose responsible travel methods. From sourcing ethically produced materials to selecting food that aligns with sustainable practices—including mindful meal planning that avoids contributing to overfishing—we make conscious decisions at every stage.

Additionally, we actively offset our carbon footprint through initiatives like tree planting, ensuring our experiences not only inspire but also protect the world around us.

Energy:

In 2021, our headquarters underwent a remarkable transformation, swapping all petrol vehicles in our fleet for Electric Vehicles (EV) and replacing our old oil heating system with an environmentally friendly Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP). These changes have significantly reduced our greenhouse gas emissions and reliance on fossil fuels. We believe that such actions not only contribute to a cleaner and healthier planet, but also inspire others to embrace sustainable alternatives.

All of our bulbs are LED, and the lights are all on timers, to ensure they are only on when we need them and we consciously follow intelligent energy usage, to minimise overheads and utilise greener energy supplies during off-peak periods – check out Octopus “Greener Days”

Online:

In 2023, we moved away from the traditional search engines, and now use Ecosia as our default, an eco-company that plants trees, on our behalf, just for conducting our everyday internet searches. To date we have completed almost 4000 searches, equating to 80 trees planted! Ecosia use 100% of their profits for climate action, with the majority going to tree planting projects worldwide, and have a ‘beyond neutral’ carbon footprint! Come and join us using our invite code and we both plant an extra tree, just for referring you  🌳

"Paperless where possible":

We pride ourselves on being a ‘paperless where possible’ company and only print where we absolutely have to, such as for postage, necessary letters or receiving letters from HMRC, or where we feel there is real benefit, such as certificates to award to individuals on completion of our courses. Where we do need to print, we use FSC approved items and consider reuse and recyclability. We also use ‘stapleless staplers’, making it easier to recycle paperwork when no longer needed.

Through our exclusive use of reusable note-taking tools, specifically ReMarkable and provision of  Rocketbooks, instead of single-use paper, alongside the Pilot FriXion, erasable pens and highlighters, we have cut down on hundreds of thousands of pieces of single-use paper. We personally LOVE the Rocketbook ‘Wave’ model, for its paper-like-feel, and innovative way to make the ink disappear, so you can reuse it!

Recycling:

We donate any cardboard boxes, or packaging materials, from items we have ordered or received, to local small businesses, who reuse them for their own packaging, which cuts down on their costs and need to purchase first-use cardboard. This includes being a hub for our employees and Tribe members to donate theirs too!

There are, unfortunately, still plenty of items that aren’t recycled by local councils, that’s where Terracycle comes in. With hundreds of collection points around the country, pretty much anything can be turned into something new. We donate our Babybel, cheese and crisp packets to our local animal sanctuary, who can get them recycled through Terracycle to get funds to help their furry and not-so furry creatures, it’s a win-win! We also have our own Terracycle boxes for items that the charity doesn’t collect, such as plastic and foil from contact lense packaging and medication blister packs, that we can send off separately to be recycled, and encourage our Tribe to bring them to our events to be recycled

Smaller Steps:

We firmly believe that every small step towards sustainability counts, and we are dedicated to making a meaningful difference through our sustainability efforts. Here are some of the smaller, everyday, changes we’ve made, that you could make too:

  • All of our washrooms have Neal’s Yard soaps and hand lotions, a company that has been organic, and sustainably minded, with their famous ‘blue bottle’ products, since its inception in 1981.
  • We exclusively use reusable Phox water filters instead of the traditional ones, which are much harder to recycle.
  • Utilise Smol products for our washing, dishwashing, cleaning products and washing up liquid at InTah HQ, reducing the footprint on moving liquids unnecessarily, and compostable sponges, all come in recyclable or compostable packaging.
  • Use reusable beeswax wraps instead of cling film in our kitchen, and reusable straws instead of single-use plastic.
  • Our compost heap for all of the uncooked food waste, which then gets donated to local community gardens.
  • Supply each of our employees, and our VIP Tribe members with our InTah reusable water bottles and ensure that all of our events encourage, supply and enable refilling rather than single-use.
  • Where it makes sense to do so, we utilise refurbished devices that reduce overheads and items that might otherwise have gone to landfill. We also use Pelacase phone covers, which are durable enough to protect our devices, but also home compostable once they have lived out their sensible lifetime.

And we help the planet too

With Social Responsibility and Sustainability at the heart of every InTah experience, our activities, products and services continue to promote and encourage the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

By engaging and participating in InTah activities, Tribe members will not only have the opportunity to support worthwhile causes around the globe but discover opportunities to develop and consolidate their new-found skills, whilst also supporting community projects and paying-it-forward.

With each InTah experience delivering a different focus, there is no end to the support we can deliver to charities in a variety of sectors, both in the UK and Internationally.
